The
year was 2307 and the Earth was at peace. The "united" countries, using
their combined resources, had produced phenomenal technology. After
centuries of "listening" and searching for extraterrestrial life in
the physical realm, man had concluded he was alone in the universe.
All current technologies had failed to prove otherwise. Man's discoveries
now allowed travel at 95% the speed of light, the "warp" barrier yet
to be, probably never to be, broken. With this capability man had traveled
to all planets in the solar system. Under the coordination of the Earth
Federation, he had been able to establish manned exploration stations
at each planet. Planets containing fairly hospitable surfaces supported
land-based stations, whereas the remaining planets had orbiting space
stations. Years later, man had greatly increased the size of each station,
transforming them from simple laboratories to heavily populated habitat
and scientific research facilities. The year was 2307 and the Earth
was at peace, until ... Bedlam.
A huge
mass of energy detected and calculated to be headed directly toward
the solar system was determined by the Federation to be a fleet of space
ships (But we were alone?!). Man's reasoning determined the only explanation
for such a huge armada had to be utter annihilation. Mankind had only
one hope... a few small space ships had, in the past, been equipped
with a nuclear powered, high-energy, pulsed array emmiter to facilitate
mining many of the planets and larger asteroids. These ships were the
only things standing between the vast alien fleet and the destruction
of ALL mankind. The war had begun! Bedlam!
Bedlam is
an action packed shoot'em up arcade game for the MacOS. The game play
itself has some similarities to the old arcade favorite Galaga.
In Bedlam you must travel to each of the planets in the solar system.
Alien forces are poised to attack the habitat and research facilities
located at each planet. All human life will be destroyed. It's up to
you to fend off 4 waves of aliens [screenshot]
and the mothership [screenshot]
at each planet. You'll also have to deal with special weapons the aliens
acquire along the way. It's going to be a tough job, but who else is
going to do it?
If you have a
black and white Mac we think you'll like Bedlam.
Please note: Bedlam
went through a major revision (essentially being rewritten) which resulted
in Bedlam 2. If you have a color Mac be sure to check out Bedlam
2.
